Kim Brown Barber, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Journey to Becoming, LLC and contributing author of Teaching through Challenges for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) interviews Eyouel Mekonnen for the #Becomer Series. He is a student at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). According to the school’s website, newly-elected student body president, Mekonnen, is the first international student ever elected to the position. He moved from Ethiopia to Kentucky in 2016. He is also the first Black student body president EKU has seen in more than 40 years.
